Skyguard & Skyguard Extreme

Skyguard & Skyguard Extreme

With the "Skyguard" the offices for ride innovations and conceptual design has closed a gap between the popular tower chain rides and the successful Freefall Towers. The new attraction is directed towards the family public, which finds the Freefall too intensive or the chain ride too conventional.

The two independently and synchronically lifting and sinking rotating rims of this new tower attraction are equipped with an arm group that travels effectively as an umbrella. When the distance between the rims is increased, the arm group pulls together and the distance between the seat rows is reduced. Simultaneously the seat rows tilt forward giving passengers a clear view into the depths. Just how often this effect occurs during the ascent to the tower peak or on the way back can be controlled by an individual ride programme.

The intensity of the tilt that results from the distance between the two rotating rims can also be chosen via the programme. "Skyguard" can, according to previous planning, be configured with the different connections of the seat rows, and with that can also fit to the individual requirements of the customer regarding the thrill factor. The attraction has been planned primarily for stationary use at theme parks. A mobile version (as tower or as major ride with reduced height) is also feasible. "Skyguard" is available in two versions: As a moderate family friendly

version with the view towards outside, and also as an extreme version, in which case the four-seat gondolas are orientated on the rotational direction and can also rotate on their own axis additionally. The 90 m high "Skyguard V80" has a diameter of 24 m and accommodates 80 passengers per round (1,800 p.p.h.) whilst undertaking 6 rotations per minute. Plans are already afoot for a transportable version with 40 seats (950 p.p.h.). The approximately 24 m high "Skyguard Extreme" for 40 passengers has a similar ground area requirement

and reaches up to 8 r.p.m. The first animation of the construction can be viewed on the You-Tube site of Kirmes & Park Revue: www.youtube.com/kirmesparkrevue
